The much-anticipated Amandeep Premier League (APL), a stage for the country’s rising cricket talent, is finally poised to start, giving the young cricket talent a chance to get their names up in lights after a break of more than two years following the coronavirus pandemic.
The winner would receive a prize of Rs 5 lakh, followed by a prize of Rs 2.5 lakh for the runner-up team, as well as prizes of Rs 51,000 and Rs 31,000 for the respective men of the series and match. Each of the top bowlers and batsman would receive Rs. 11,000.
The sixth APL, which will feature cricket teams from all around the country, will be played in Amritsar between September 11 to 18 according to Shahbaz Singh, the league’s organiser, who also noted that the first two APLs couldn’t be held because of the Covid pandemic.
Along with the cricket teams from Air India, FCI, ONGC, Minerva Club, etc., teams from cricket clubs & academies from Delhi, Kolkotta, etc. will be arriving.
The APL gives aspiring cricket players a platform to display their talent in front of the public and media, in addition to giving them the chance to meet with cricket icons and gain inspiration from them, according to Shahbaz Singh.
During the day and night matches, he claimed, they will have an international standard format and facilities, such as excellent lights, live commentary, umpires and scores, live telecast, etc.
The winning team would receive Rs 5 lakh, the runner-up team would receive Rs 2.5 lakh, the Man of the Series would receive Rs 51,000, and the Man of the Match would receive Rs 31,000. It was decided that Rs 11,000 would be split evenly between the best batsman and the best bowler.
Shahbaz Singh, etc., are just a few of the cricketers that will be there, and Shahbaz also mentioned that Balwinder Singh Sandhu, a legend in the sport who won the Cricket World Cup in 1983, will be the special guest and offer his insights to the young players.
Young cricketers can hone their skills and get the attention of the likes of the Board of Control for Cricket in India thanks to participation in tournaments like the APL, he said.
