According to official sources, Aadhaar enrolment for babies along with birth certificates will be made available in all states over the next few months. A little over a year ago, the process began, and since then, additional states have been included.
Children under the age of five do not have their biometrics taken. Their UID is constructed based on demographic data and a facial image connected to their parent’s UID. Therefore, after the child turns five and fifteen, a biometric update (ten fingers, iris, and facial photos) is necessary.
The government body that provides Aadhaar numbers, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), anticipates that all states will be able to offer the capability over the next few months.
No biometric information is collected from children under the age of five. An individual’s UID is generated using their parents’ UID alongside their demographic data and an image of their face. Thus, at the ages of 5 and 15, the child must undergo a biometric update (ten fingers, iris, and facial photos).

Aadhaar is now used by over a thousand different government programmes to verify eligibility, transmit benefits, and eliminate duplicate enrollments. The Aadhaar framework and its biometric authentication are used by almost 650 separate initiatives managed by state governments and 315 separate schemes run by the central government.
To date, 134 billion Aadhaar cards have been distributed. This 12-digit biometric identity had almost 20 billion changes and enrollments in the previous year.
New enrollments accounted for 4 crore, which includes infants & children up to age 18. New adult enrollments accounted for only 30 million of the total.
According to the sources, the goal is now to have Aadhaar cards given alongside birth certificates. For this reason, UIDAI is coordinating with the Registrar General of India. Participation in the process is open to states who have already digitized their birth record systems in their entirety.
There was a delay in providing a comprehensive list of the states that participate in Aadhaar-linked birth registration.
According to reports, after a birth certificate is granted in 16 of India’s states, a message is sent to the UIDAI database, where an enrollment ID is then generated. If a child’s photo and address are entered into the system, an Aadhaar will be automatically generated. Registrars of Birth are often also Aadhaar enrolment agents, therefore they can help you get your Aadhaar card, according to reliable sources.
