Delhi Electricity Subsidy: You can also register online to take or leave the subsidy given to electricity consumers in Delhi.
Delhi Electricity Subsidy: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced last week that now only those people in the state will get free electricity subsidy, who will ask for it. Now electricity consumers in Delhi will be able to register both online or offline to get a subsidy on the consumption of up to 400 units.
People can leave subsidy on their own
Kejriwal had said that the decision to allow financially capable consumers to be excluded from the subsidy scheme was taken by the government after receiving suggestions from people so that the savings could be spent on building schools and hospitals. The modalities for registering consumers for the subsidy are likely to be finalized by the end of the month.

Online registration will also be done for the subsidy scheme
Officials said on Wednesday that the department is also consulting power distribution companies to streamline the registration process. An official of the power department said that since more than 80 percent of consumers pay their electricity bills online, discom portals and apps will be common platforms to register to opt for or opt-out of the subsidy scheme.
You will also be able to choose the option by filling the offline form
The official said that those who are not using the online medium will be free to choose the subsidy option by filling up the form and submitting it to the discom offices. Consumers will have to choose the subsidy option from October 1.
Significantly, there are 58.18 lakh electricity consumers in the national capital, out of which 47.11 lakh are benefitted from the subsidy scheme. 100% subsidy is given to domestic consumers using up to 200 units in a month. Consumers whose monthly consumption is 201-400 units, get a subsidy up to Rs.800.
