The Indian government is making a lot of efforts to promote electric cars, and as a consequence, sales of these vehicles are rising along with the country’s desire for them. The nation’s top-selling manufacturer of electric vehicles is still Tata Motors. In India, Tata Motors has surpassed all international automakers operating there to have the greatest market share for electric vehicles. Its market share is more than 70%.
Tata Motors sold the most electric vehicles during the month of September last year. Together, the Nexon EV Prime, Nexon EV Max, and Tigor EV have sold 2,831 units, representing an annual rise of 217.02 percent and a monthly growth of 2.39 percent for Tata Motors. In September 2021, the firm sold 893 units, and in August 2022, 2,765 units. Regarding the volume growth, there has been a volume gain of 66 units each month and 1,938 units annually. Additionally, all firms together have sold 3,419 units as of September 2022. Sales of electric vehicles have increased by 172 percent year over year while increasing by 5.62 percent month over month.
Tata, which sold 280 units of its ZS EV (September 2022) as opposed to 327 units sold in September 2021, was the only other company that sold more electric vehicles than MG. In other words, there is a 14.37 percent annual reduction. On a monthly basis, its sales have also decreased by 11.39 percent. They were followed in terms of sales during September by Mahindra, who came in third, Hyundai, who came in fourth, BYD, who came in fifth, and BMW, who came in sixth.
