Saket Mehra, National Sector Leader (Auto) at Grant Thornton Bharat, said that “vehicle sales have increased by 34% year over year in the first half of FY 2022-23. The effects of the epidemic are being progressively reversed in the passenger car sector.” He stated: “The poll indicates that there has been a noticeable increase in demand as a result of the supply chain’s recovery, the holiday mood after the corona epidemic, and the necessity for personal automobiles. As a result, the industry is receiving assistance.
31% of respondents to the study said they intended to purchase an SUV. 28 percent of the market for tiny automobiles comes after that. Compared to previous year, the demand for SUVs has multiplied five times. According to the report, demand for hybrid and electric vehicles has grown by 46% and 62%, respectively, since 2021.
According to sales data for September of last year, the Maruti Suzuki Alto sold 24,844 units, followed by WagonR, 20,078 units, Baleno, 19,369 units, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, and Tata Nexon, which sold 14,518 units. Brezza and Nexon, the latter two vehicles, are SUVs.
