Launch of the first flexible fuel vehicle: India’s first flex-fuel vehicle has been launched by Union Minister of Road Transport Nitin Gadkari. This Corolla Altis vehicle from Toyota has a hybrid drivetrain. The car may only use the alternative fuel “ethanol” in this test project. The left-hand drive variant that is available in India was supplied from Brazil. It will serve as a Toyota demonstration in India. “There is a need to promote the usage of electric cars that run on bio-fuels like ethanol and methanol,” Gadkari said in remarks made on the occasion. A flex-fuels engine’s definition.
An engine that can run on both gasoline and ethanol/methanol is known as a flex fuel engine. Flex or flexible fuel is the name given to this kind of fuel. The petrol engine has to undergo a few modifications in order to operate on two or more fuels. Additionally, this engine can operate on 100 percent ethanol and 100 percent gasoline. Such cars are now in use in Brazil, Canada, and the USA.
What is the car’s area of expertise?
The Corolla Altis’s engine may operate on gasoline, ethanol, or electricity. It is propelled by a 1.8-liter petrol-hybrid engine that is ethanol ready. It will be able to operate on fuel containing 20% to 100% ethanol. The flex engine has a power output of 75.3 kW and a max torque of 142 Nm. The vehicle also has a 1.3 kWh hybrid battery pack, and the electric motor has a maximum power of 53.7 kW and a maximum torque of 162.8 Nm.
