Tata Motors is reportedly developing a new SUV for the domestic market called the “Blackbird.” On the Tata Nexon SUV, which is now on the market, will be based this SUV. But the length will be longer. It could prove to be a fierce competitor in the mid-size SUV market. In this market, SUVs like the Nissan Kicks, Volkswagen Taigun, Kia Seltos, and MG Astor are already popular choices.
Tata will aim to differentiate its new SUV from the Hyundai Creta, which currently leads the market, in order to compete. It could be the more substantial Nexon-based coupe-style SUV presently going by the name Blackbird (Blackbird – “Kali Chidiya”). It is impossible to predict if this name will still be used at launch or not.
It may reach 4.3 metres in length. Tata may position it in its lineup between the 4.6-meter-long SUV Harrier and the sub-4-meter SUV Nexon. There have long been discussions concerning it. Although it could share the same X1 chassis as the Nexon, the extra length allows for a larger cabin and boot.
It may have fresh style and a roofline more akin to a coupe, according to rumours, to distinguish it from the Nexon. It is anticipated that the Tata Nexon Coupe/appearance Blackbird’s would include new front and back designs. This may be powered by a brand-new 1.5-liter gasoline engine.
Its engine will be an improvement over the 1.2-litre Revotron engine from Nexon. It will be tweaked to provide around 160 horsepower of power. The MT and AT transmission choices are possible. Its starting price is around Rs. 11 lakh.
