On Monday, Chinese smartphone manufacturer OnePlus revealed that it would be releasing a new timepiece in India as part of its cheap Nord portfolio. OnePlus has already entered the rapidly developing wearables market in India with the launch of two products, the OnePlus Band as well as the OnePlus Watch.
According to OnePlus, the Nord Watch would help the company strengthen its position in the wearables market and make the company’s trademark technology more widely available.

Before the release of the OnePlus Nord Watch, the budget-friendly Nord series debuted with the introduction of the Nord Buds, Nord Buds CE, and Nord corded earbuds.
The OnePlus Nord is rumoured to be a low-cost smartwatch with a price tag of less than Rs 5,000, which would be consistent with prior leaks and rumours. If the rumours are true, the OnePlus Nord Watch will be the first in the Nord series of wearables. Based on OnePlus’s teaser, the Nord Watch will have a rectangular face and a button on the right-hand side, just like competitor smartwatches from Dizo, Noise, and the like.
OnePlus’s teaser video shows a black OnePlus Nord Watch, and the company has said that it plans to release the watch in at least three different colours.
Earlier in August, it was leaked that OnePlus was planning to release the Nord 3 smartphone, the Nord 3 smart measuring scale, the new Nord Buds, the Nord Watch, and the Nord Band in India. The first inkling that OnePlus was working on a new wearable under the Nord brand name surfaced in June thanks to a leak. A leaker claims to have seen the model number OPBBE221 on the website of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), which would indicate that it is the OnePlus Nord smartwatch.
The leak said that a smartwatch called the OnePlus Nord (with the model number OPBBE221) had been submitted to the BIS for certification. The certification, however, does not provide any other information on the gadget.
