In advance of announcing a pricing, Mercedes-Benz launched pre-orders for the Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 4Matic, which will be released on September 30, 2022, in India. The pre-order fee is a symbolic figure of Rs. 25 lakh. At the company’s Chakan factory in Pune, Maharashtra, this will be the first electric automobile to ever be domestically produced. The new Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 4MATIC will be the base model in the EQS lineup, which also includes the expensive but high-performance Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4MATIC+ (ex-showroom).
“It is a significant milestone in our ‘Make in India’ journey underscoring our manufacturing successes,” stated Martin Schwenk, MD & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India. We are starting to accept reservations for our flagship EV today as well. Priority will be given to delivery of the car to our current customers.
A 107.8 kWh lithium-ion battery pack and two electric motors will power the next Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 4Matic electric vehicle, which will have a combined output of 523 horsepower and 856 Nm of torque. According to Mercedes-Benz, the EQS has a range of up to 770 km and has a 0-100 kmph acceleration time of 4.3 seconds. Its maximum speed is 210 kmph. For comparison, the Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4MATIC+ produces 751 horsepower and 1020 Nm of torque using the same battery pack. Its peak speed is 250 kmph, and it completes the 0-100 kmph run in in 3.4 seconds.
The front blanked-out grille of the EQS 580 4Matic is decorated with tiny lighted three-pointed stars. The front and back bumpers have also been somewhat modified. The vehicle is mounted on a set of 20-inch alloy wheels. The 56-inch Hyperscreen is housed within the EQS 580 4Matic and is available in a wide range of interior colour and trim choices.
