Cricket enthusiasts, good news as India takes on South Africa! For a One-Day International Cricket match, the Delhi Metro has extended train schedules; see the updated schedule HERE.
Today, the last train on all lines save the Airport Express line will run 30 to 45 minutes later than usual to help cricket fans get to the Ferozshah Kotla Ground for an ODI match. The stadium is conveniently located next to two metro stops on the Violet line (which runs from Kashmere Gate to Raja Nahar Singh): Delhi Gate and ITO. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation announced the change on Twitter. “Minor adjustments have been made to the #DelhiMetro’s last train timetables for the 11th October 2022 (Tuesday) One-Day International Cricket match involving India and South Africa at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Ferozshah Kotla Ground in New Delhi. A statement from the DMRC read, “To enable supporters during the one-day international (ODI) cricket match featuring India and South Africa on Oct 11, the Delhi Metro has announced modest changes in its last train timings on all lines (excluding Airport Express Line).
The Delhi Metro would execute extra train trips (about 48) by stretching its last train schedules by roughly 30-45 mins on all lines in preparation for the “sudden rush” predicted at these close metro stations once the match is done, according to the announcement. It was also noted that this initiative will facilitate spectators’ use of the Metro to get to their destinations quickly and easily.
