When captain MS Dhoni & pacer Deepak Chahar were spotted at a private birthday party in Bengaluru on Sunday, it was kind of like seeing old Chennai Super Kings (CSK) teammates reunited.
Immediately after their encounter, Dhoni and Chahar’s photos became popular on social media.

The 3 ODI series between South Africa and India was missed by Chahar, who returned to NCA in Bengaluru to heal from his injury.

Chahar will not play in the current ODI series against South Africa, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said on Saturday (October 8). Chahar’s back is tight. Deepak Chahar will be replaced by Washington Sundar for the remaining ODIs in the South Africa series by the All-India Senior Selection Committee. After the third & final T20I match between India and South Africa in Indore, Mr Chahar had back stiffness and was left off of India’s starting lineup for the opening ODI in Lucknow, according to a BCCI release.
“He will rejoin the National Cricket Academy (NCA) & be monitored by the Medical Team there,” said the statement.
Chahar is recovering from a back injury that caused him to miss the entire IPL 2022 season. If he heals in time, he will take the position of the injured Jasprit Bumrah. The BCCI has not yet announced Bumrah’s replacement for the forthcoming T20 World Cup 2022.
The ICC deadline for selecting the successor has passed, but the BCCI has not yet made its choice public. If the BCCI medical panel determines that Bumrah has sufficiently healed from COVID-19, Mohammed Shami is among the other bowlers vying to take Bumrah’s place.
