Toyota Hyryder Launch: The first mid-size SUV in India to feature powerful hybrid technology is the Toyota Urban Cruiser Highrider. It has a 1.5-liter TNGA Atkinson cycle engine from Toyota.
Toyota has released the Urban Cruiser Hyryder, its first midsize SUV, with costs for some of its versions ranging from Rs 15.11 lakh to Rs 18.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). For the time being, Toyota has only disclosed the pricing for the top four models, of which three are powerful hybrids and one is a mild hybrid with all-wheel drive. Prices for the remaining mild hybrid models will be revealed gradually. The new SUV is already being reserved for a nominal fee of Rs 25,000.

The first mid-size SUV with powerful hybrid technology in India is the Toyota Urban Cruiser Highrider. It has a 1.5-liter TNGA Atkinson cycle engine from Toyota that produces 92 horsepower and 122 pound-feet of torque. It is coupled to an eCVT transmission. The engine is coupled with an electric motor that produces 79 horsepower and 141 pound-feet of torque, for a total of 114 horsepower. The powerful hybrid system includes a 177.6V lithium-ion battery. Toyota claims that its powerful hybrid arrangement can provide a mileage of 27.97 kpl.
The Maruti Suzuki mild hybrid engine is another option for the Hyder. It is propelled by the same 1.5-liter K15C engine that powers the new Brezza, XL6, and Ertiga. The mild hybrid system is referred to as “Neo Drive.” It produces 103 horsepower and 137 Nm of torque. Additionally, a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox or a 5-speed manual gearbox are choices. The mild-hybrid engine with a 5-speed manual transmission now offers an AWD option.
