On Saturday, during the sixth annual India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2022, telecom giant Bharti Airtel announced that it will begin rolling out its 5G services across the country beginning with a few select locations. We’re going to roll out 5G across the entire country. According to Bharti Enterprises’ Sunil Mittal, “by March 2023, we will still have reached multiple cities, and by March 2024, we would have covered whole India using our 5G network.”

The oldest private telecom business in the country, Mittal said, is launching 5G phone networks in eight key cities by March of this year, with nationwide coverage by March of next year.

It’s important to remember that initially, only thirteen cities will have access to 5G. Telecom companies like Airtel have projected that nationwide 5G connectivity will be complete by 2024.

Reports have previously speculated that Bharti Airtel & Reliance Jio, two of India’s largest telecom companies, will be the first to launch 5G services in certain locations. Bharti Airtel, a major telecom company, announced earlier this month that its CEO, Gopal Vittal, would be communicating with customers to announce the imminent introduction of 5G services. According to the CEO, Airtel would have service in major cities before the end of the year.

Ericsson would reportedly install 5G networks for Airtel across 11 circles, covering Delhi, Rajasthan, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu; Samsung would do so in 2 circles, including Kolkata and Punjab; and Nokia would do so in 9 circles, including Mumbai, as reported by ET.
