The most affordable EV in India, the Tiago, was introduced by Tata Motors on Wednesday, expanding their line of electric vehicles (EV).
After yesterday’s unveiling of the Tata Tiago EV, it’s only natural to draw comparisons to its larger sibling, the Tigor EV, which was previously unveiled and it is the most affordably priced EV until the Tiago EV dropped the price to under Rs 10 lakh.

Who has the broadest applicability?
The Tiago EV, with its 24kWh lithium battery, has a range of 315km, making it one of the longest-distance EVs currently on the market. A second, shorter battery pack with a range of 250 kilometres and a power output of 19.2 kilowatt-hours is also available. Even though the Tigor EV has a 26kWh battery pack, its advertised range is only 306km.
Which one has the most influence?
The electric motor in the larger 24 kWh battery pack-equipped Tiago EV generates 74 horsepower, whereas that in the smaller 26 kWh battery pack-equipped Tigor EV generates 75 bhp. Interestingly, the two cars share a 5.7-second 0-60 mph time.
Which one has more options and conveniences?
The Tigor EV has a number of high-tech features, including a 7-inch touchscreen with phone connectivity, automatic headlights, a digital instrument cluster, an 8-speaker sound system, a rearview camera, and Bluetooth connectivity. The Tiago EV is similarly equipped, however, its linked car technology is more advanced. Nonetheless, those who purchase a Tigor EV will have access to these features in the form of future software updates. It was in the Nexon EV Max that multi-mode regen was first shown, but the Tiago EV now has it, too.
Can you tell me which one is the better financial investment?
The price range for a new Tigor EV is between Rs 12.4 lakh & Rs 13.6 lakh. The Tiago EV, meanwhile, has a far more reasonable starting price of Rs 8.4 lakh for the smallest battery pack and a maximum price of Rs 11.7 lakh. Value-wise, the Tiago EV is superior, and its features and range are superior to those of the Tigor EV, but the Tigor EV’s larger cabin and trunk may be more appealing to some buyers.
