EV India: According to PTI, Hero MotoCorp and HPCL are working together to install electric two-wheeler charging points at petrol stations around the nation.
Hero MotoCorp has partnered with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. to install a nationwide network of charging stations for electric motorcycles and scooters. As part of this effort, the two companies will start by implementing a charging network at the existing network of stations owned by Hindustan Petroleum Corporation (HPCL). This will be done to expand their current partnership in the future to pursue additional business opportunities. Hero MotoCorp said in a statement that it plans to install a dense network of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations around the country, beginning with a few pilot cities.

It was also stated that the two-wheeler industry leader would be in charge of developing the charging network’s infrastructure and that each charging station would have several fast chargers (both DC and AC) for use by any two-wheeled EVs. Everything about a user’s charging experience, from start to finish, will be managed by a cashless transaction model based on a Hero MotoCorp Mobile App.
CEO and Chairman of Hero MotoCorp Pawan Munjal said, “We feel that a seamless and fast adoption of EVs would be achievable only when the users have simple and easy accessibility to the infrastructure required, mainly public charging.” This is why the company is working with HPCL.
The first electric model from the company is set to debut next month. To create a pan-India electric vehicle charging infrastructure and provide end-to-end EV charging solutions, HPCL Chairman & Managing Director Pushp Kumar Joshi said, “With our extensive array consisting more than 20,000 retail stores and Hero MotoCorp possessing its prominence in the two-wheeler segment establishes a unique strategic partnership.”
He also noted that more than 60% of all EV sales in the country are motorcycles, making this programme all the more crucial.
