The Ministry of Railways has issued a circular prohibiting the collection of a service charge by the Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC). Those who take trains frequently will be pleased to hear this.
Service Charge On Food:
It has been decided that the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) will no longer be able to collect the Rs 50 that was previously charged for catering. The Indian Railway Board has given IRCTC instruction in this respect. Those who did not purchase the catering option on trains such as the Vande Bharat, Duronto, Rajdhani, and Shatabdi were required to pay an extra Rs 50 for tea. Passengers riding these trains will appreciate the Railway Board’s action.

Prohibition on recovery of service charge
It’s too bad IRCTC can’t get their money back for the service charge they used to collect on the deluxe trains now. The railway has also released a circular on the matter. We should mention that before the regulation changed, IRCTC added a service charge of Rs 50 to all food and beverage purchases. This fee is collected from such customers as a service for the company. People who didn’t include food in their ticket order.
Food becomes expensive on railways
