During his lifetime, the late Queen Elizabeth made three trips to India with her husband, the late Prince Phillip, who served as Duke of Edinburgh. These trips took place in 1961, 1983, and 1997.
Longest-reigning British monarch Queen Elizabeth II passed away on Thursday at her estate in Bellmore, England.
After a long battle with illness, the Queen passed away peacefully, as per the official statement released by the Royal Family.
Since the news broke, world leaders from every country have been flooding in with messages of condolence.
Elizabeth II, Queen of the United Kingdom, reigned for over six decades and travelled extensively as a monarch.
Her formal trips to India, though, have been the most memorable.
In addition to seeing the amazing Taj Mahal, she also saw the Golden Temple in Jaipur and the Gateway of India in Mumbai.
Before she went to the next world, Queen Elizabeth II visited India.
According to ANI, Queen Elizabeth and her late husband, the Duke of Edinburgh, travelled to India three times during his lifetime: in 1961, 1983, and 1997.
In 1911, her grandpa, King George V, and her grandmother, Queen Mary, became the last British monarchs to visit India.

The Prime Minister of India, India’s first president, greeted Queen Elizabeth II.
After the second visit to India in 1961, Her Majesty and Prince Philip were greeted at the airport by President Rajendra Prasad, Vice President S Radhakrishnan, and Indian Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru.
The Queen attended the Republic Day procession as a special guest.

She also spoke to a sizable crowd at a gathering held in 1961 at Ramlila Ground to greet the royal couple, which was sponsored by the then-prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru.

The Queen and her husband Prince Edward travelled to Jaipur, where they received a customary Indian welcome. The Queen rode an elephant close to the City Palace with the Maharaja of Jaipur at the time, Sawai Man Singh II.
Taj Mahal was visited by the Queen.
Queen Elizabeth also went to Agra to see the Taj Mahal.
There was a Queen at the Gateway of India.
During their 1961 trip to India, the royal couple stopped by the Gateway of India in Mumbai.
Indira Gandhi visited with Queen Elizabeth
After their initial visit to India in 1961, Queen Elizabeth II & Prince Philip returned on two separate occasions, in 1983 and 1997, the latter of which coincided with India’s celebration of its 50th anniversary of independence.
In 1983, when visiting New Delhi, Her Majesty met with Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Indira Gandhi, the Prime Minister, wore a saree, and the Queen wore a formal dress, both of which made them appear stunning.
The Queen made a pilgrimage to Amritsar’s Golden Temple.
